Your baby’s first doctor visit should be scheduled within 3-5 days after birth. This checkup is important to ensure your baby is healthy and to detect any early health issues.
According to the vaccination schedule set by the Turkish Ministry of Health, babies should be vaccinated against diseases like diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, and rubella at specific ages. Your pediatrician will explain the schedule in detail.
Most babies are ready for solid foods around 6 months of age. However, each baby is different, and some may be ready earlier or later. Your doctor will help you determine the right time based on your baby’s development.
Babies often wake up frequently, especially during the newborn stage, and may not sleep through the night. Establishing a regular bedtime routine can help your baby sleep longer. If sleep problems persist, it’s a good idea to consult your doctor.
A mild fever is usually the body’s way of fighting off an infection and is not always an emergency. However, if your baby is younger than 3 months and has a fever of 38°C (100.4°F) or higher, or if an older baby has a fever of 39°C (102°F) or higher, you should contact your doctor immediately.
